Methamphetamine Use and Affective Disorders

This on-demand course focuses on clinical presentations of methamphetamine use disorder and affective disorder comorbidity (e.g. depression, bipolar disorder).  Overlapping clinical symptoms across these disorders and  diagnostic considerations are discussed. Integrated treatment approaches for methamphetamine use and affective disorder comorbidity are reviewed, including off-label pharmacological treatment options for methamphetamine use disorder, evidence-based behavioral treatment approaches for methamphetamine use disorder, and pharmacological interventions for affective disorders.

At the end of the on-demand course, participants will be able to:

1. Recall at least two (2) short-term clinical effects of methamphetamine.
2. Recognize at least two (2) overlapping clinical symptoms of methamphetamine use disorder and affective disorders.
3. Identify at least three (3) pharmacological treatment approaches for affective disorder comorbidity.
4. Specify at least two (2) evidence-based behavioral treatment approaches for methamphetamine use disorder.

How to receive a CE/CME certificate:

For Continuing Medical Education (CME) for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners only, you will receive a link to complete the course evaluation for CME after watching the video for this course.
