Indigenous Health and the Opioid Epidemic
Course Description
In this one-hour on-demand course, Kawika Liu, MD, PhD, JD, FAAP, FASAM, will provide an overview of the opioid epidemic and indigenous health. The course will include discussion of the impact of trauma, genetic risk and resilience, molecular epidemiology, and substance use on the overall health of indigenous people.

At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:
- Explain three (3) features of Indigenous health around the globe.
- Identify two (2) facts about the epidemiology of the opioid epidemic in Indigenous nations.
- Propose two (2) pathways from addiction to resilience in Indigenous people.

How to receive a CE/CME certificate:

UCLA ISAP is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs (Provider #64812). UCLA ISAP maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. Course meets the qualifications for one (1.0) hour of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
