Better Together: Engaging and Partnering with Families When Drugs or Alcohol Are in the Picture
Better Together: Engaging and Partnering with Families When Drugs or Alcohol Are in the Picture
Course Description
This on-demand course will help participants describe and define effective and meaningful
family engagement by addressing three critical questions: (1) Who is the family? Who should we be engaging when working with families or youth in treatment services? (2) What are the 4 core underlying principles of effective youth and family engagement? What is the family engagement continuum and how do I assess where I am along the continuum? (3) Why is family engagement important? What are the benefits to individual youth and families, to professionals and agencies and to society at large of embracing family engagement as a foundational element of best practice?
Launch Date: November 17, 2023
At the conclusion of the on-demand course, participants will be able to:
- Define at least two (2) elements of the continuum of family engagement.
- Specify the four (4) core principles underlying effective youth and family engagement.
- Describe at least three (3) reasons why and how improved family engagement not only improves outcomes for youth and families but also for agencies, professionals and community safety.
- Identify three (3) examples of the following factors that create challenges to family engagement trauma, implicit and explicit bias and power differentials.
